
Macey Trussell
Soprano
Soprano Macey Trussell is recognized for her expressive musicianship and commanding stage presence. In 2025, she appeared as a featured soloist in Painted Sky Opera’s season opener, Overture: A Night of Opera Hits. The previous year, she performed the role of the Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw as a guest artist at the University of Mississippi, reprising the same role she debuted with Painted Sky Opera in 2023.

Trussell’s recent work with Painted Sky Opera also includes covering the roles of Mimi (La Bohème) and Micaëla (Carmen), and performing in the ensembles of Pagliacci and Lucia di Lammermoor. Known for her detailed character portrayals, she has previously sung Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus and Meg in Little Women at Oklahoma City University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree.

Trussell’s artistry has been recognized through multiple awards and competitions, including honors from the Oklahoma Ladies Music Club Voice Competition, the Naftzger Young Artist Program, and the NATSAA Texoma Region Competition. She was selected for the Leona Mitchell Master Class in 2022 and has consistently placed among the top performers in the Oklahoma District Classical Treble Voice Competition.

She has studied with Jan McDaniel, Charles Koslowske, and Joseph Fitzgerald, and worked under the direction of Alexander Micklethwaite, Rob Glaubitz, Michael Baron, and Karen Coe Miller. Critics have noted her ability to convey both emotional nuance and vocal precision, describing her performances as “beautifully sung” and “a glimpse of the next generation of great musical artists.”
Trussell continues to build a versatile career as a soprano, performing in both leading and ensemble roles throughout the region and expanding her repertoire across the lyric and dramatic soprano canon.
